Do you guys convert single speed to fixed gears? If so, how much?
By: Perry Spooner on April 2, 2009
at 7:54 pm
Hey Perry, we do a ton of single speed conversions. Best thing is to bring your bike by the shop for a free estimate. Most bikes need a new rear wheel, cog, lockring, chain, and some track pedals. It’s important to be thorough in your conversion by measuring your chainline and making sure all of your components will work well together and will keep you safe. Depending on what your bike needs, it would start at around a hundred bucks. Let us know!

Do y’all have any 47 cm bikes? I’m trying to get a new fixed gear bike.
Cheers,
Carra

Hey Carra,
We just got a couple of the new Torker U-Districts which come in 44cm and 48cm. These are great, inexpensive single speeds that can be converted to easily to fixed gear. The U-district retails for 349.99 and comes with a 30 day warranty.
Another option is the IRO Mark V HD 46cm. which comes as a frameset for $289. A complete build on this would start around $600.
We can also get track frames from Origin-8, Volume, Marin, Surly, Soma, Pake, EAI, and a few others.

Hey, someone stole my bike and i was wondering if you sold cheap bmx frames because i really like building bikes and i’m only a kid.

Hey Je’Shaun,
Sorry about your bike, man! We don’t have any cheap BMX’s in right now. About the cheapest new bike we can get would be an Eastern Paydirt or Ramrodder for around $300. Maybe check up at Recycles for a used bike or with the Books on Wheels people. Good Luck, and if you need any help let us know.

I have an old school bmx bike completely disassembled. I bought each piece seperately to replicate my bmx bike growing up. Skyway T/A (oval frame), bulls eye hubs, acs z rims (need to be spoked both rims and freewell added to rear hub) redline 3 piece cranks, gyro, etc…. Would you guys be willing to put together. Needs alot of TLC because frame, forks and cranks are in mint condition.

Hey Thomas,
It sounds like this bike is gonna be awesome. We’d be more than happy to put it together for you. We have plenty of experience with these parts, aside from the z rims. we’ll call up ACS to figure an appropriate tension for them, and we can build them with the spoke pattern and color of your choosing. We stock DT Swiss Champion spokes in Black and Silver, and we can order nice stainless steel powdercoated spokes in just about any color. One big thing with those rims is whether they have had any UV exposure. Any prolonged sunlight will drastically reduce the shelf life of a 25 year old plastic rim. The wheelset build will probably run about $100 with labor and DT spokes, an ACS Freewheel will be $23, and our hourly rate is $30 for putting the rest of the bike together. I’d imagine that your total cost would run about $200 give or take and we can probably turn this around in a week, maybe less. You’re welcome to come by the shop with the parts for a more thorough estimate.
Thanks for the email,
Luke/Bunnyhop

Hey do yall have any shadow comspiracy half link chains in?
By: austin jones on August 18, 2009
at 7:07 am
Hey Austin, We have a few Shadow chains in black. We also stock the KHE half link, and the Stolen chain. The shadow interlock chain is definitely our favorite though, especially for the smaller sprockets like 25/9, 23-22/8. Thanks, Luke/Bunnyhop

Hey,
I was wondering what you charge in terms of new crank shafts? My pedal broke off during a ride, but I think the threading in the hole was stripped in the process. Is this a big job?
By: Becky on August 24, 2009
at 6:47 pm
Hey Becky,
Our pedals start at 22 dollars a set and our crank arms start at 15 dollars. The best thing to do is to bring the bike by to see what needs to be done. We might even have a used part to fix your bike. I’m sure we can get you back on the road within a day or two. Thanks for the email, Luke/Bunnyhop

Hey Jackie,
I would recommend putting a new chain on your bike. If you put the same chain back on the bike, even if you twist it back into place, it is much more likely break because of the weakened metal. Our basic single gear chains are 15 dollars installed, and for nicer Rust Buster or multi speed chains, they are a bit more expensive. Best thing to do would be to come by and we’ll give you a free estimate. We may even be able to fix it on the spot.
