Hey Rebecca,

We'd be glad to help you out with the bike. We can definitely fix or replace all of the parts on it, and we may have some used components around to keep the cost down. Unfortunately, depending on the overall condition of the bike it may not be cost effective to fix, and you may need to buy a new bike. Bring it by and we'll give you a free estimate.

Department store bicycle brands like Mongoose, Next, Triax, Free Spirit, Huffy, newer Schwinn bikes, Magna, and Pacific tend to be poor bargains. These bikes are sold at an affordable price point, but are often not equipped with parts that are made to last. The bikes are usually assembled out of the box straight from China or Taiwan by store workers, not professional mechanics, who are paid piecework for each individual assembly. The combination of cheap parts and unskilled labor is never a good thing. If you're looking for an affordable, quality bike - new or used - feel free to call us or come by to see our selection.

Thanks,
Luke/Bunnyhop

We have a hand me down Mongoose bike - it looks a bit rough, but my son is psyched about getting going. It has a wheel off, a missing petal, and the breaks are disconected. Is it worth investing to repair?

Hey Jackie,
I would recommend putting a new chain on your bike. If you put the same chain back on the bike, even if you twist it back into place, it is much more likely break because of the weakened metal. Our basic single gear chains are 15 dollars installed, and for nicer Rust Buster or multi speed chains, they are a bit more expensive. Best thing to do would be to come by and we'll give you a free estimate. We may even be able to fix it on the spot.
Thanks, Luke/Bunnyhop 804-248-5878

Hey Austin, We have a few Shadow chains in black. We also stock the KHE half link, and the Stolen chain. The shadow interlock chain is definitely our favorite though, especially for the smaller sprockets like 25/9, 23-22/8. Thanks, Luke/Bunnyhop

Hey Becky,
Our pedals start at 22 dollars a set and our crank arms start at 15 dollars. The best thing to do is to bring the bike by to see what needs to be done. We might even have a used part to fix your bike. I'm sure we can get you back on the road within a day or two. Thanks for the email, Luke/Bunnyhop

Hey,

I was wondering what you charge in terms of new crank shafts? My pedal broke off during a ride, but I think the threading in the hole was stripped in the process. Is this a big job?
